Re: Booking and Shows•Each year, over 4 million teens acquire a sexually transmitted disease •2 young people become infected with HIV every hour •Each year, almost 1 million adolescents under the age of 20 become pregnant
Be part of the solution… help the young people of New York City take control of their lives, their health and their futures by contributing to our annual More Than Just Sex conference.
Community Healthcare Network’s Teens P.A.C.T. (Positive Actions and Choices for Teens) program is a non-profit adolescent pregnancy prevention program funded by the New York State and New York City Departments of Health. Teens P.A.C.T. is dedicated to preparing young people for success through empowerment, understanding, and the provision of realistic, relevant and accurate information. Teens P.A.C.T. provides young people with opportunities to establish relationships and explore attitudes and beliefs in a community of guidance, support, and acceptance.
Teens P.A.C.T.’s dedicated staff of teen peer educators is planning a city-wide youth conference for more than 300 adolescents to participate in activities designed to promote health and awareness The conference, entitled More Than Just Sex, will take place on May 8th, 2010 from 1-7pm. The conference will take place at St. Francis College in Brooklyn and will offer young people opportunities to learn realistic, relevant and accurate information about diverse topics in a safe and fun environment. We hope to offer workshops in Healthy and Unhealthy relationships (domestic violence, abuse), Career Planning, College Planning (applications and scholarships), Youth Activism, Martial Arts, STD/HIV and Pregnancy Prevention among others. We hope young people will come away with the idea that sexual health is about more than just sex: it’s about taking control of their lives, their health and their future.
We are writing to request your support. The success of our event depends on our ability to provide a safe environment in which we can offer giveaways that will attract young people and empower them to have the future they deserve. We hope that you will consider making a generous contribution. Currently we are seeking sponsors and donations that we can offer to our conference participants. If you are unable to provide large quantities, even a small donation can be offered as a raffle prize. In exchange, we will provide you with free advertising for your company to conference participants as well as more than 3,000 organizations throughout New York City who will receive our outreach materials.
Please let us know if you can assist us in our efforts, and please feel free to contact us if you require any further information. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
